Overlooking stunning Carlton Beach, the original house, built in the 1970’s, offered up none of the amazing views it could have done. It was cold, draughty, dark and had possibly the worst attic room in Tasmania!

Our brief was to reconfigure the attic into a master bedroom, an ensuite and an upstairs living area – with views to die for. We added numerous skylights to brighten both the attic and the downstairs rooms. We also renovated all of the downstairs living areas and bathrooms, and laid a light bamboo floor throughout.

Faced with sometimes violent weather, we also fitted uPVC tilt and turn double glazed windows and sliding doors, and super insulated the roof space. To ensure the building was energy efficient, we also upgraded the hot water system to solar.

The end result, with its now very useable attic rooms and light and airy downstairs areas, is a totally transformed home – light, comfortable, airy and with one of the best views in Australia.
